Conservation Resources

Part of the charm and joy of living on New Castle is its natural beauty.   In order to preserve that natural beauty and the resources of the island, the town, the state and the federal government have established regulations on how the land and resources may be used.

Consulting the Conservation Commission is the first step for any project that may require a wetland permit or building permit within the 250 foot tidal buffer zone.  Our role is to assist you, the applicant, in filing the most appropriate plan with the town, NHDES, and the Federal Government and to recommend whether your project should be approved by those entities.

For information on building or development projects within 250 feet of the tidal area in New Castle below are links to resources your should consult in addition to contacting the Conservation Commission.
