About the Conservation Commission
The Conservation Commission is an advisory board, appointed by the town Selectman, whose primary responsibility is protecting and preserving the natural resources of New Castle Island. We assist, review, and provide recommendations to individual petitioners, the Board of Selectman, the Planning Board, the Zoning Board of Adjustment, and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services on matters concerning the Island’s natural resources, its wetlands, and building within its wetland buffer zones. The Commission develops and coordinates projects to protect and preserve wetlands, restore ecosystems, and educate the population on the importance of our local environment.
