FIREWORKS
Most fireworks are not permitted to be displayed in the Town of New Castle.  The Town of New Castle strictly enforces the State of New Hampshire laws regarding the sale, possession, and display of fireworks.  Laws regarding fireworks can be found by clicking here.

There are a few permissible fireworks that can be displayed on private property.  In order to display permissible fireworks, you must be at least 21 years old and be on private property that you own, or have written permission from the land owner, or be in the owner's presence.

Some examples of permissible fireworks include; ground fountains, ground spinners, sparklers, and party poppers.  For safety information and a list of permissible fireworks, please click here.

A good rule of thumb is that if it goes in the air, it is likely not permissible in the Town of New Castle.

Please remember that most of the houses on the island are very old and close together.  By launching a lit object into the air, you could potentially cause a home to catch on fire if that object lands on a roof or close to the home.  The US Coast Guard Station is also on the island and they are constantly looking for emergency flares for boats in distress.  Some fireworks could cause the USCG to think there is an emergency.

Please have a safe and happy 4th!
