Green Waste Day

Community volunteers in cooperation with the New Castle Conservation Commission assist residents with disposal of their yard and garden waste. In addition the Town opens the compost area at the Common to receive leaves once each spring and fall.

The green waste dumpster is available to island residents one Saturday each month during the growing season. The dumpster is located at the Common next to the library and green waste volunteers are on duty from 8 – 11 AM. No after hours dumping is permitted. Because plastic bags are not biodegradable, these must be emptied and reclaimed. Using disposable paper bagging keeps clothing clean and dispositions cheerful.

Green waste and leaf drop-off dates are pre-published in Island Items and prominently posted at the Town Hall, post office, library and the Calendar on the Towns Website.
