Programming & Exhibits Policy

The New Castle Public Library seeks to provide programs and exhibits that educate and entertain.  All library programming will be developed by the Director and the Library Trustees.  Though programs of a controversial nature may be presented on occasion, the library in no way endorses the viewpoints or opinions of any lecturers or presenters.  The library is not affiliated with any political, financial, ethnic, religious, or special interest group.

The Trustees welcome and encourage participation by townspeople and organizations in suggesting future programs.

General Guidelines:

  1. Displays in the library are to provide patrons with special insight into library materials or New Castle residents’ artistic and literary talent.
  2. No sales transactions will be conducted on library premises from such art displays, though materials may be numbered and a corresponding numbered list may show a sale price and a name and number to contact.
  3. In the spirit of supporting local authors, the library will sponsor book talks and signings at the library.  Authors may sell their materials at the presentation if a copy is donated to the library collection.
  4. Bulletin boards will be used to provide information on cultural, educational and other activities of local interest.  The library does not advocate or endorse the viewpoints of the information posted.
  5. No petitions or political material will be displayed in the library.
  6. Only non-profit organization information will be accepted.  Personal, commercial or profit- making posters or hand-outs are not allowed.
  7. With the exception of ongoing programs that benefit the community, materials (posters and hand-outs) may be left on the bulletin board or its shelf until the event has been completed or for no more than two weeks (whichever comes first).
  8. Posters will be no larger than 11” x 17” in size.  Smaller posters and flyers are accepted and encouraged.
  9. The library will not act as a collection point for donations to charities or organizations.
