Safety & Emergency Management Policy
Safety:
During library business hours, if the Director or volunteers observe a potential emergency or threat to patrons, staff or building, they are to call 911.
If at any time the Director or volunteers encounter an uncomfortable situation that doesn’t warrant a 911 call, please call police dispatch at 436-3113 and ask to speak to an on-duty New Castle police officer.
Emergency closing:
When severe weather, mechanical failures within the building, or any other emergencies occur, the Director has the responsibility for deciding whether or not to close the library.
Emergency Management:
The New Castle Public Library will adhere to the town of New Castle’s disaster preparedness plans as directed by the emergency manager. A copy of such plan is on file at the library.
