When are the parking ordinances enforced?

Parking Ordinances are enforced year round.

What parking areas require a resident parking permit?

There are four parking spaces at the entrance to Campbell’s Island Lane. The lower portion of Wentworth Road between the entrance to the U.S. Coast Guard Station and Walbach Street is for residents only. The length of Walbach Street from Wentworth Road to Piscataqua Street is for residents only. The northeast side of lower Ocean Street near the water is for residents only. The area of Wild Rose Lane near Fort Stark is for residents only. There are several other smaller permit parking areas (watch for posted signs).

Permits are only issued to New Castle residents and property owners. They may be obtained at the New Castle Town Hall.

How do I pay a parking ticket?

Tickets may be paid by mail or in person at the New Castle Town Hall or New Castle Police Department.

How do I appeal a parking ticket?

You may complete the parking ticket appeal form online, or complete the form in person at the New Castle Police Department. Appeals should be submitted within 5 days of receiving the ticket to avoid late fees.

I have never been to New Castle. Why did I receive an unpaid parking ticket notice?

Unpaid parking ticket notices are sent to the registered owner of the vehicle which received a ticket. While it is possible that someone borrowed the vehicle when the ticket was issued, the owner is ultimately responsible.
