Steps we are taking to reduce Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs):

Portsmouth continues to proactively address the evolving water quality regulations related to new, lower, standards for TTHMs. The Portsmouth 2013 Water System Master Plan recommended aeration of the Newington Booster Tank to treat for this parameter. Therefore, a consultant was hired by the City in 204 to perform preliminary design of that system and to also assist the water operations staff with optimizing treatment system operations to lower the levels of TTHMs. Their recommendations were implemented and a design of the Newington Booster upgrades is underway. It is anticipated that this project design will be completed in the fall of 20118 and will go out to bid after that for construction. Additionally, the Town of New Castle has hired an engineering firm to determine how to address this issue in the short term.
