The Open Space Committee is very grateful for the huge turnout and show of support for this project on December 1 at our special town meeting. Citizens voted for the town to raise up to $150,000 for the purchase and protection of the islands. During the month of December, over 70 families and organizations in town contributed the balance of $37,000 which the Southeast Land Trust needed to complete the purchase and establish the easement. These islands are now protected forever.
The Town of New Castle’s curbside recycling program calls for “Dual Stream Recycling” which means paper and cardboard products should be placed at the curb in its own container and glass, metal and plastic products should be places at the curb in their own separate container.
